Thales Partners in Launch of “Injaz” Project to Strengthen Iraq’s Digital Security Infrastructure

In a significant step toward enhancing security and digital transformation, Iraq’s Ministry of Interior in Baghdad has announced the launch of the “Injaz” biometric digital data center, in partnership with Thales, a leading French defense technology firm.

The project, the first of its kind in Iraq, aims to establish a centralized and secure system integrating national identification data with biometric and forensic databases, including fingerprints, facial recognition, DNA profiles, and firearm registration.

It will also enhance investigative capabilities through advanced technologies such as ballistic analysis and DNA matching, while enabling the digitalization of criminal record services and secure nationwide connectivity between law enforcement and forensic departments.

This initiative highlights the importance of international collaboration and the role of business platforms, such as the Iraqi-French Business Council, in fostering an enabling environment for global companies to contribute to strategic projects that support Iraq’s development and institutional capacity building.
