Meeting with the Iraqi Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control

On Monday, June 23, 2025, a significant meeting was held between the Iraqi French Business Council and the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC), hosted graciously by Dr. Fayyadh Mohammed Abd, President of COSQC. The meeting was attended by key COSQC officials including Mr. Faisal Aboud, Director of Legal Affairs; Eng. Ghada Mohammed Ali, Head of Conformity Assessment; and Eng. Mushtaq Moein Al-Mousawi.
During the session, the parties discussed several key proposals, mainly:

1. The Council’s plan to establish accredited inspection companies and specialized labs to boost partnerships with government bodies and investment in certification services.

2. Challenges in importing diesel vehicles due to local fuel not meeting Gulf standards, with a proposal to adopt specifications better suited to Iraq’s market.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold a follow-up session involving COSQC’s conformity and legal departments, alongside the Council’s foreign automotive agents, to further deliberate on proposed solutions.
